New Language Arts Standards Review

Dear Parents,

I’m writing to encourage you to provide feedback this spring on the state’s literacy standards for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Iowa Department of Education has announced two public forums on April 25-26 and a statewide survey to gather feedback from Iowans on the current literacy standards, which outline learning expectations for English-language arts and for literacy in history, social studies, science, and other technical subjects.

This public input process is part of a review of the literacy standards that was prompted by the Governor’s Executive Order 83.

Iowans have until May 13 to take the statewide survey, which is available at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TGHQWCL

The team will submit a final recommendation to the State Board of Education later this year.
